ABOUT US

A heart filled with love has no room for hate.

Our Vision

Do not pass by someone in need. When you join our congregation, you join a community fed by love and hope, one in which everyone is welcome. Join us and discover the power of prayer, faith and humility.

2

Our Vision

Love thy neighbor as thyself.  This is not only a central tenant of Christianity, it may be the one that guides all else. To treat others with respect, kindness, and love is what we strive for, every day, in everything we do.

3

Our Vision

You don’t need a reason to help.  All you need is opportunity. Together, we'll find places where our assistance would be most appreciated and we offer help, guidance, companionship and love.

4

Our Vision

Your life is your message to the world.  Fill it with meaning and hope, with love for the Lord and with compassion for all of the Lord's children. You are never alone when the Lord is with you, and He is always with you.

27 Oct, 2024
This is the Sermon Podcast from First Christian Church in Kokomo IN. for October 27, 2024. Pastor Adams gives thoughts on "Yearning to Truly See". Based on scriptures: Psalm 34:1-9 & Mark 10:46-52. This week, when we are struggling to see the way ahead, what would the true vision Jesus offers give us? Are we, like Bartimaeus, willing to accept that vision and "follow Jesus on the way"? It's just 9 days until our general election, how can we truly see the way ahead? What's next? In times of great stress, we often retreat in order to recharge and replenish our hearts, minds, and spirits. That's a good thing, a much-needed think to do. We want, and need, to regain the Jesus-led and God's love-fueled vision we were created with. But when we emerge from that time of virtual blindness to the world, how has our vision changed?
22 Sep, 2024
This is the Sermon Podcast from First Christian Church in Kokomo IN. for September 22, 2024. Pastor Adams gives thoughts on "No Matter What - Resist and Persist In Christ". Based on scriptures James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a and Mark 9:30-37. This week as we think about our own "no matter what", we are invited to journey with Jesus and His disciples along the road through Galilee. We hear Him telling them once more that He will be arrested and killed, and after three days He will rise up, conquering even the power of death. But once more, they don't understand. I mean, it does sound more than a bit impossible, right? They know they're supposed to understand by now, so they don't ask Him to explain.
15 Sep, 2024
This is the Sermon Podcast from First Christian Church in Kokomo IN. for September 15, 2024. Pastor Adams gives thoughts on "No Matter What - Directed By HIM". Based on scriptures James 3:4-5a, 7-12 & Mark 8:27-38. This week as we think about our own "no matter what", our Gospel reading invites us to listen in as Jesus asks His disciples, "Who do people say I am?" They have various answers. (easy when you're talking about other people, right?) But THEN He turns to them and asks, "And what about you? Who do you say that I am?" Peter speaks right up. He knows the right answer, the expected answer. "You are the Christ," he says.
08 Sep, 2024
This is the Sermon Podcast from First Christian Church in Kokomo IN. for September 8, 2024. Pastor Adams gives thoughts on "No Matter What - Defined By HIS Love". Based on scriptures James 2: 1-4, 14-17 & Mark 7: 24-37. This week our Gospel reading introduces us to a foreigner, a woman, whose daughter is "possessed by an unclean spirit". She comes to Jesus, begging Him to heal her little girl. This woman herself is unclean by Jewish standards. She knows this, but it doesn't stop her. In her steadfast persistence, she challenges Jesus - and wins. Wow! No matter what, she's not giving up until she sees the healing power of God's love in action. No matter what, that love defines her.
18 Aug, 2024
This is the sermon Podcast from First Christian Church in Kokomo In. for August 18, 2024. Pastor Adams gives thoughts on "Full of...What? ...for What?". Based on scriptures Ephesians 5:15-20 and John 6:51-58. This week, we will do our best to take a look at ourselves. What are we "full of"? If someone were to spend time with you, what might they think you're "full of"? What would it be like if the description of Christ-followers we hear this week from the Letter of the Ephesians were to be said about you: that you're all about being "filled with the Spirit" and that you "always give thanks to God for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ"?
11 Aug, 2024
This is the sermon Podcast from First Christian Church in Kokomo In. for August 11, 2024. Pastor Adams gives thoughts on "Eternal Food = Eternal Life". Based on scriptures Psalm 130:1-7 and John 6:35, 41-51. This week, we begin with powerful reminders from Psalm 130. We too have times when we "cry out to God from the depths". We too have times when we "yearn for mercy and forgiveness". How often could these words be ours: "I hope, Lord. My whole being hopes, and I wait for God's promise - my whole being waits for my Lord..."? When we do, we learn and rely on the fact that God continually seeks to fill us - not just with any "food" by human definition - but with eternal, rock-solid, steadfast love-soaked food for our whole beings - enough to last an eternal lifetime!
